About SkillsComp

An overview

The main reasoning behind the SkillsComp project is to transfer the idea of skills competitions from the international level to the local/regional level by preparing VET teachers and professionals from various industries to use skills competitions as instruments to innovate VET and answer the needs of contemporary entrepreneurs who are struggling with the lack of qualified employees. We believe that skills competitions can make VET attractive again.

SkillsComp project is also an opportunity for participating organisations to increase the quality and relevance of their activities. The implementation of the project into the TVET system will highlight the important role of skills competitions as inspiration for young people and as a mutual measure of strength in professional skills. The project will be a platform for sectoral organisations, TVET schools, professional associations and entrepreneurs to exchange knowledge and experience, training methods and collaboration opportunities.

The project will be a new experience for school staff, professionals from companies, TVET students and project partners. The potential impact of the project will be equally spread among the involved organisations. We will embark on an important task to create systems for the preparation, nomination and organisation of regional/national vocational skills competitions that may lead to establishing national teams of young professionals for WorldSkills and EuroSkills events.
